Summary
The Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor is responsible for testing, assessing, and counseling students in their vocational goals. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Typical Functions
Administers and scores various tests to determine vocational and academic placement of students. Provides career counseling to students regarding chosen vocation, by helping student in assessment interpretation and program selection and sharing information on financial aid, social agencies providing support, and other educational institutions, and counsels individuals on time management and goal setting. Counsels special needs students and at-risk students, individually or in group sessions, concerning social, civic, personal, and educational problems, and refers to alternate sources for assistance. Works with instructors to develop a Individual Written Vocational Plan for special needs and handicapped students and monitors program by observing student's progress. Recruits students by developing and making presentations on school curriculum to regional junior and senior high classes, counselors, civic organizations, social service agencies, and various other interests groups. Monitors and documents job market information, including local industry needs and vocational skill requirements for employment, and maintains confidential student records. Develops extension programs by writing program proposal, hiring instructors, assisting instructors in curriculum development, and establishing admission procedures and standards. Assists instructors in obtaining and compiling student follow-up information, administers Graduate Equivalency Diploma test, attends professional conferences and workshops, and assists with special school functions. May supervise a small administrative support staff. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of vocational education, vocational rehabilitation, job placement, career opportunities, and evaluation. Knowledge of the principles and practices of counseling and testing assessment. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of others. Ability to prepare, present, and review oral and written information. Ability to develop, monitor, and evaluate vocational programs for individual student needs and for the vocational unit. Ability to obtain and provide information, guidance, and counseling to students.
Minimum Education and/or Experience
The formal education equivalent of a master's degree in education, counseling, rehabilitation counseling, or counselor education; plus two years of experience in counseling or a related field. Must be a licensed counselor in accordance with ACA 17-27-301 or certified as a Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor in accordance with the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification. . Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
Preferred Qualifications
Have good interviewing, problem solving, verbal, and communication skills and can interpret tests, and analyze information. Prefer Masters in Rehab Counseling (MRC) and Certified Rehabilitation Counseling (CRC).

Method of pay is direct deposit. Checking or savings account required if hired.
Participation (6%)in contributory Retirement Plan is required if hired.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
